Notes from the Secretary of Convention

To: Clergy, Lay Leaders and Convention Delegates

Thanks to those congregations who have submitted their parochial reports by the March 1, 2019, due date. Currently, we have received 72 parochial reports. The reports must be verified by the Secretary of Convention in order to be included in the Episcopal Church database, on which projections and budgets are based. They are important.

To submit a parochial report, click here. You will need to enter your UEID and PIN.

We are still missing a few voting devices from last year’s convention. If you discover you have inadvertently retained once of the missing devices, please return to the Secretary of Convention so we can return it and receive an $80 credit.

We have received 100 responses to our online survey, which is being used for convention planning purposes. If you wish to submit your input, please complete the survey by the end of March. The survey is here.

Canon Dr. Steve Nishibayashi

Secretary of Convention

The first Convention 2019 planning meeting took place on February 7, 2019. With Diocesan Convention occurring 3 weeks earlier than in the past and moving back to the Riverside Convention Center, the planning schedule has also advanced.

Having read all the evaluations completed at convention, I've designed an email survey to assist in improving Convention. You'll find it here. Timely completion is kindly requested.

Deans and deanery presidents will be scheduling Pre-Convention Deanery Meetings within the next month.

According to Canon VI, annual Parochial Reports are due on March 1, 2019, and must be reviewed by the Secretary of Convention by May 1. These reports are vital to collecting current and accurate data from which The Episcopal Church generates demographic reports and the Executive Council plans budget and programs. A link to filing the Parochial Reports can be found at

We are still missing a few of the electronic voting devices from Diocesan Convention 2018. We are charged $80 per unreturned device. Please return any devices to my office at the Cathedral Center.

As congregations conduct their annual meetings, please provide clergy, lay and alternate delegate information using the forms that can now be completed electronically at

Many thanks to those who have already provided delegate information without having the newly-generated forms for completion.

I would also like to introduce Samantha Wylie in her capacity as Convention Coordinator. Questions about Convention can be addressed to either me or Samantha. Samantha can be reached at

Thanks for your assistance and support.
